Экономика и литература

В статье содержится обзор экономических проблем сквозь призму биографии, социологии и истории идей. Через литературные труды рассматриваются идеологические споры и личные взаимоотношения между экономистами и писателями, а также распространение идей об экономической науке и о роли экономической деятельности и предпринимательства. В центральной части своего анализа автор выявляет существенное напряжение, которое можно наблюдать между альтернативными подходами к рассмотрению действий человека в литературе и экономике по мере их развития в современной культуре. Знакомство с экономической мыслью и литературой XVIII–XIX веков позволяет показать эволюцию и взаимопроникновение метафор и образов.

Темы финансов, денег, кризисов, банкротств, богатства и бедности получали осмысление в литературных произведениях, тогда как ряд литературных образов — Робинзон Крузо или Король Лир — начали жить своей жизнью на страницах экономических текстов. Особое внимание в статье уделяется первоисточникам — прежде всего XIX века, а также наиболее значимой актуальной литературе по обсуждаемым вопросам. Сравнение экономики и литературы, проводимое под разными углами зрения, предлагает богатое поле для исследований, особенно ценное для историка экономической науки, который интересуется зарождением идей, их истоками и взаимосвязями в различных областях знаний. Оно дает возможность понять, в каком историческом контексте и социальном окружении работают представители обоих направлений, и увидеть, какие интеллектуальные и эмоциональные потоки пересекают разные пространства культуры, вовлекая в свое движение как писателей, так и читателей.
